Heavy-duty multifunctional units

The new heavy-duty multifunctional units, NAR series, offer very high transport, straightening and bending forces. These units have been developed preferably for high strength process materials with a diameter or cross-sectional height of between 5.0 mm and 25.0 mm.

With process materials with a lower yield point the maximum allowed diameter or cross-sectional height is increased to 30.0 mm.The term NAR stands for the possibilities to pre-bend, straighten, transport and bend a

process material with just one single unit. The minimum number of rolls and the roll

alignment varies. Depending on the total number of tasks a NAR unit is equipped with at

least five or more rolls. By adjusting bending or respectively straightening rolls in between

upstream and downstream located transport roll pairs, process materials can be transported

and straightened simultaneously in a defined manner. In case of aligning a bending roll after

a final pair of transport rolls a wire can be bent to a specific curvature radius, e. g. for coiling.

The picture highlights a NAR unit mounted on a traversing unit. During its defined travel,

supported by the traversing unit, the NAR unit transports and bends the wire. If the unit is

equipped with an additional pre-bending mechanism and straightening rolls in between the

shown roll pairs, four tasks in total could be performed. A pre-bending mechanism always

should be part of a NAR unit if the first section of a coil has to be straightened for easy wire

threading or handling.

Because of the modular design and a unique concept for aligning, driving and adjusting rolls

in a defined manner the multifunctional units NAR series offer maximum performance on a

minimum space with an unbeatable cost.

Straightening Units NT Series

Minimized deformation under load, high precision and a reliable quick-response locking mechanism (suitable in particular for high-strength wires) are features of the newly developed NT straightening units. The roll diameter and the distance between straightening rolls have been optimized in order to be able to straighten process materials that have a wide range of diameter sizes.

Straightening Rolls HS and HL Series

Two new series of straightening rolls with outer diameters of 17 mm, 23 mm and 31 mm are being introduced in response to the ever-higher speeds of process materials in the wire industry and to the trend toward higher strength values. Specially designed for high speed (HS) and high strength (HL) respectively, the new models have the advantage of lasting longer than familiar roll types. As with the established WICAS ® rolls, the elements in contact with the process material can be made of, for example, carbide or some other specific materials.

Digital Length Meter LM 12 D

In the intermittent processing of straightened process materials in defined lengths, there is a trend toward the minimization of length tolerances. This objective can only be achieved if length measurements are taken directly at the process material at high speed. For this purpose, WITELS-ALBERT offers a low-cost digital length meter that is easily integrated in existing lines. While the process material is guided precisely by two roller guides, a rotary encoder along with an arrangement of metering wheels are used to measure the length.

Guiding Unit RK VE Series

The newly developed RK VE roller guide assures optimal feeding of process material into processing machines. Because the guide rollers can be positioned to suit the dimensions of the process material, even irregularly bent process material or very high process material speeds have no negative effect on the feeding. Guide rolls are available in specific finishes, e.g. hardened or chromium-plated, and in various materials, e.g. carbide or plastic, to suit a variety of applications.

CD-ROM with products in DXF and SAT format

All standard products from WITELS-ALBERT are now available on a CD-ROM in DXF and SAT format. Designers can thus import roller guides, straightening units, drive units, etc. into their 2D or 3D drawings with one simple click.

SimDATA 1.0 software

When using a roll-type straightener, the constant quality of the straightened product depends on the positioning of the adjustable rolls. Finding the optimal roll position is an expensive process, especially in terms of time, labor and the consumption of process material. With this in mind, the software SimDATA 1.0 is designed to help, even the inexperienced operator, with positioning the straightening rolls. Once the operator enters the name of the straightening unit being used, plus the diameter, the yield point and the modulus of elasticity of the process material, the software will calculate the roll positions for achieving the required quality of straightening.

Straightening Units ER MA Series

Straightening Units ER_MA Series
The defined and reproducible adjustment of straightening rolls is gaining more and more significance as a means of achieving constant finished product quality with straightening units. In addition to the familiar methods of adjusting straightening rolls precisely in a minimum amount of time, WITELS Apparate-Maschinen ALBERT GmbH can now supply the LCD 01 MA display and memory unit for its ER MA, RA MA, RB MA and PR MA straightening units.

Using a sensor connected to the unit, it is possible to identify and display roll positions, which can then also be saved in the unit's non-volatile memory for future positioning purposes. The implemented software package and five keys allow the LCD 01 MA display and memory unit to be operated with ease, with communication being possible in either German or English. A conventional 1.5 V battery provides the unit with power.

Being designed for non-stationary use, the unit is able to adjust the positions of straightening rolls on straightening units in different locations with defined and reproducible results. Hence it is conceivable, for example, to prepare the straightening units on several machines – each for a particular product – using a single LCD 01 MA display and memory unit.

Straightening units of the types listed above have straightening rolls to which an information carrier is assigned for precise positioning purposes. The LCD 01 MA display and memory unit can be used for straightening units able to handle process materials with a thickness of between 0.5 mm and 15.0 mm.

Straightening Units ER MB Series

The all-new mechanical rotating "memory bar" allows operators to set and lock-in up to six different settings per wire straightener. By simply rotating the memory mechanism to one of the six previously adjusted positions, the memory bar automatically aligns the straightening rolls to your desired setting for a particular wire size/type. The rotary memory bar is a rugged, uncomplicated, and maintenance-free system available on a wide variety of WITELS-ALBERT wire straightener models and sizes.

Straightening Units ER PO Series

For a defined and reproducible setting of straightening rolls mechanical working counters are used on these straightening units. The counters give a clear information about the position of each adjustable roll in relation to a defined datum. Using known adjustment values or the results of the SimDATA software, the operator is able to setup such straightening units in a minimum of time.

Straightening Units DRS Series

The DRS straightening units are characterized by two different straightening size ranges integrated in one high precision body. The roll diameter and the distance between the straightening rolls have been optimized for each size range separately in order to accommodate wires in two different size ranges. All rolls can be adjusted manually or by using the optional Computerized Tool. Switching between the size ranges is accomplished by unlocking and swiveling the straightener 180° and relocking. The traditional approach of changing complete straightening units when processing another wire diameter is no longer necessary.

Additional popular features include minimized deformations under load and a fast and reliable quick-response locking mechanism for each straightener size range, which is particularly suited for high-strength wires.
