MULTIMAC, ECHOMAC, EXHIBITED AT TUBE 08 DUSSELDORF

March 26, 2008

The new MultiMac" rotary/encircling coil eddy current tester attracted many visitors at Magnetic Analysis Corp.'s Stand C-36, Hall 7.0 at Tube 08 in Dusseldorf in early April. This new Windows® based multi-mode eddy current tester incorporating up to 8 channels, operates with encircling/sector test coils to detect short surface defects, and/or with rotary test probes to detect long, seam type surface defects. The new capability incorporates all of the best features of MAC's individual encircling coil and rotary probe instruments into one unit.

MAC's Echomac® ultrasonic FD-4 electronics with rotary transducers was also exhibited. The FD-4, with up to 32 independent test channels, is suitable for any combination of longitudinal and transverse flaw, thickness and ID/OD dimensional detection. Oblique defects can also be detected.

Many oil country pipe manufacturers were also interested in information on the Rotoflux® flux leakage system for inspecting pipe up to 16 inch (406 mm) diameter, to meet API and other specifications. The Rotoflux handles both transverse and longitudinal defects.
