Blachford was started in 1921 in Montreal, Canada by Henry Lloyd Blachford and began as a sales agency for chemicals used in the rubber and ink industries. Since then H.L. Blachford Ltd. has grown and expanded, both in Montreal and elsewhere.The original plant is much extended, and a large modern plant was constructed in Mississauga, Ontario, in 1972. Blachford Corp. was formed in 1989 and operates a manufacturing plant in Frankfort, Illinois, concentrating on the production of lubricants and coatings that are used in the drawing of wire. Product range today includes the following: lubricants for drawing wire and cold rolling steel, other metal working compounds, such as corrosion inhibitors and drawing compounds, noise reducing materials, such as sound absorbers and sound barriers, anti-tack agents and process aids for rubber, lubricants, process aids and heat stabilizers for plastics, lubricants for powdered metals, and gelling agents for oil and gas well fracturing, and many other uses.
