Custom Engineering of Tips, Dies and Breaker Plates

Over two decades of experience in the design and manufacturing of Tips, Dies, and Breaker Plates makes Canterbury Engineering a leader in the industry. CEC can make tips, dies, and breaker plates to your design and specifications, or can help you in the design of the tooling.

Tips, Dies

CEC is constantly improving our manufacturing techniques to provide the best quality at the lowest prices. Consistent quality is ensured by state-of-the-art, CNC computerized machinery and skilled operators. Canterbury Engineering is one of the few shops that can handle the smallest tooling parts with 0.005" holes. At CEC, we understand the importance of a smooth entry hole in the tip and the concentricity of the tool.

CEC produces single, multiconductor, or multilayer tooling for all styles of crossheads. Canterbury Engineering's standard material is AISI D-2. Other materials commonly used are 4140, Hastlloy®, Monel®, Inconel®, and stainless steel. Our carbide and diamond inserted tips are especially designed for higher speeds and longer life.

Breaker Plates

Canterbury Engineering manufactures replacement breaker plates for all OEMs. We also manufacture breaker plates of special designs. Breaker Plates are made with straight holes, tapered holes, slots and mixing inverter type. CEC designs the hole pattern to give the least amount of dead area to allow smooth flow and maximum strength against cold starts.

Canterbury Engineering's standard Breaker Plates are made from 4140 steel, hardened and stress relieved to provide a good combination of abrasion resistance and toughness. Other materials used are stainless stell, H-13, Hastelloy®, and Inconel®.

CEC keeps most standard type tooling in stock and will keep your common sizes at no charge.
